Governance

High Performance Computing Cluster (HPCC) service started as an exciting collaboration opportunity between the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and the Academic Computing and Communications Center to facilitate research at UIC. ACER group currently has over 20 years of cumulative experience setting up HPC clusters and related infrastructrue at various institutions. Also, the team has knowledge of diverse use cases for research infrastructure. Based on their experience, they can readily understand user requirements and make required changes to adjust to researcher’s needs in the general-purpose cluster. ACER is governed by an Executive Governance Board and also has a technical governance committee.

 

Executive governance committee consist of following members

  • Dr. Henrik Aratyn, Associate Dean of Research at LAS
  • Dr. Joanna Burdette, Associate Dean for Research at College of Pharmacy
  • Dr. David Hofman, Head of Physics
  • Dr. Farzad Mashayek, Head of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
  • Dr. Robin Mermerlstein, Director of IHRP & Co-director of CCTS
  • Dr. Thomas Royston, Head of Bioengineering
  • Dr. Larry Tobacman, Senior Associate Dean for Research at College of Medicine
