The Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management (Slurm) is a widely used job scheduler and resource manager for high-performance computing (HPC) clusters.
In this tutorial, researchers will learn the fundamentals of using Slurm for submitting and managing jobs on HPC systems. This is particularly useful for researchers using ACER’s HPC resources, as the new Lakeshore cluster will use Slurm for job submissions.
Learning objectives:
- Introduction to the Slurm job scheduler
- Commonly used Slurm commands
- Converting existing Torque/Moab submission scripts to Slurm
- Monitoring, canceling, and debugging jobs
- Running interactive jobs with Slurm
This tutorial is intended to help researchers become comfortable with the basic Slurm workflow and prepare for working on the Lakeshore cluster.
