Reminder: Time is Running Out to Purchase New Compute Nodes for Your Research
Dear Extreme and SABER users,
We would like to remind you that the April 28 deadline for submitting purchase requests for compute nodes on UIC's new cluster is fast approaching. As mentioned in a previous communication, this new compute cluster will replace the aging and out-of-warranty Extreme and SABER clusters, which will be decommissioned in December of this year.
Submitting your requests prior to April 28 gives us ample time to ensure a smooth transition to the new resources and avoids any potential disruptions to your ongoing research projects. Given the unpredictable supply chain lead times we are current facing, ordering new equipment earlier is highly recommended and we therefore urge you to act fast and place your order as soon as possible. Please note that your accounts will only be charged once the equipment is delivered to us, which is expected to be after July 1st, 2023 (FY24).

More details regarding the architecture and cost of the nodes can be found here and here.
