Globus is a non-profit service for efficient, reliable research data management that has become a preferred service for moving and sharing data between and among a wide variety of storage systems at research labs, campus computing resources, and national facilities across the US.
In this webinar, you will learn how to get started with Globus. Find out how easy it is to move your data to and from UIC systems (from a few megabytes to tens of terabytes) and why over 1,600 campuses and research organizations offer Globus services for managing research data. In addition to transferring data, you will learn how to schedule recurring transfers and synchronization tasks, and how to share your data with your collaborators at multiple institutions.
We will demonstrate how to:
- Use your campus ID to create a Globus account
- Browse your personal, campus, and ACER files using Globus, and transfer data among them all, securely and reliably
- Use your web browser to upload and download files from various locations
- Share access to your data with others so they can help you with your research
- Set up a timer to sync data or automate transfers between two locations
